The House is independent of and is not subservient to House Harkonnen nor any other Great House.

The House is unusual in lacking a standing army. Such is unnecessary. It is protected by the vastness of space. It does possess formidable weapons in the form of mass drivers. They have sold the ability to deflect comets to House Perko to collide them with Hulit to deliver water.
It may lack trained troops but it does have one devastating weapon at is disposal: the mass driver. They have already demonstrated this device by, at the behest and with the co-operation of House Perko, colliding two comets with the planet Hulit to deliver water. Further comets were planned but operations were halted following objections from the other Volite houses.
The House is vulnerable in its food manufacture. Most of it is grown in huge spaceborne greenhouses and distributed to the people living among the asteroids and on the moons in the outer system. Targeting and destroying this space stations would soon lead to starvation. House Anson imports a percentage of its food from Volod, bought from the four Houses who rule the planet. This is to create the illusion of dependence on the planet, a diplomatic move to defuse tension over the existence of mass drivers, and to create multiple supplies in case of crop failures.
Hidden away there is a stock pile of kinetic weaponry. House Anson has built a weapons platform that drop titanium rods into a gravity well. Deployed against a populated area on a planet, the effects would be devastating.
