Primary Domain: Farming trees, manufacturing wood for export to the Galaxy and furniture for global distribution. Pharmaceuticals derived from Dopinese plants. The House's biggest customer is the School of Aramoy, despite the animosity between Haider and Melech. Its factories in Aramoy City are so successful that they have eclipsed the domestic ones in terms of supplying Volod. This has Created capacity to allow Interstellar trade.

Secondary Domain: breeding of flora and fauna for export to other worlds, often complementing House Perko's terraforming business. They do good business with House Anson supplying food and developing plants that thrive in spaceborne greenhouses. Haider's biological expertise falls well short of the Tleilaxu but also lacks the problems of dealing with the Tleilaxu.

The house must pay an annual tithe of soldiers to House Harkonnen every year. It gets these from regions that oppose Haider rule.

The House rules over much of the continent of Dopin-Nam on the planet Volod. It is a wild and untamed place. Areas of it are independent of and resist Haider rule.

The Haiders have increased their and the continent's wealth through trade. However, many are critical of the House's move away from conservation and living in harmony with nature to exploiting it for profit.

History

House Harkonnen elevated the Haiders to Minor House status after going into an alliance with House Perko. The latter originally opposed the creation of House Haider, but the Perkos realised that Dopin-Nam was a wild and ungovernable place. Their relationship evolved into one of alliance.

Time Line

10,123 AG - Pozemskory invades of Dopin-Nam under the leadership of Vladimir III. After initial successes, the invasion stalls after Dopinese resistance intensifies. The Haider family plays a major role in the defence and fight back.

10,125 AG - Pozemskory withdraws from Dopin-Nam in defeat. House Harkonnen creates House Haider to rule the continent, Dopin-Nam, despite protests by House Perko. This is supposedly in recognition of the family's role in the defence of Dopin-Nam during the Pozemskorite invasion. The Haiders encounter much resistance to their rule. Their control of the continent is far from complete.

10,171 AG - House Harkonnen changes the terms of the melange contract. Dopin-Nam must now supply soldiers to House Harkonnen every year. This caused great discontent across Dopin-Nam and weakened House Haider.

 

 

Plots and Schemes

 

Haider develops and supplies biological organisms to House Perko to terraform planets. However, they are not involved in any research regarding sandworms.

 

Akbar dreams of increasing the prestige of Dopin-Nam so that it rivals Ecaz.  To do this, he needs to bring the entire continent under his House's direct control.

 

The Haiders' scientists have developed a two-part poison designed to evade poison snoopers. One half is administered in a genetically-modified purple purdey chilli pepper the other in a drink. The half in the drink reacts with the compound in the chilli pepper in the stomach to produce the poison. In low doses, it induces stomach cramps, vomiting, tremors and disorientation. In higher doses, it can kill. It has the disadvantage in that it is difficult to administer a lethal dose. The chilli pepper is mild and not as sweet as other purple purdeys.
